How to backwash
Backwashing is essential for keeping the Filterstraw in good condition and making it easy to use multiple times.
After drinking, blow air through the mouthpiece frequently, or drain the Filterstraw by shaking out as much water as you can. After using, remove the mouthpiece and flush it with clean water. (A standard water bag can be used, or a pop bottle with a standard thread diameter of 27.5mm can be filled with clean water to backwash the Filterstraw.) Cap the filter tightly after it has dried.
Note:
Do not use chemicals to clean the Filterstraw because they will shorten the service life of the carbon fiber filter.
Working principle
There are many micro-fibrous tubes in the 0.1-micron hollow fiber filters. They can prevent protozoa from going through the outer walls of the tubes, while water can easily pass through them. The principle of micro-fibrous tubes is similar to that of medical dialysis technology. Therefore, water going through the Filterstraw will be clean and safe.

I used this on a 3 day backpacking trip on a lake erie island with no drinking water available other than lake water. This filter worked great the whole time giving us clean clear drinkable water the entire time we were there. The bag also held up nicely with no leaks. The water flow through the filter stayed consistent throughout the entire weekend. I will be using this system on future backpacking trips and I would highly recommend this to anyone else heading out into the wilderness for a few days.

We liked everything about this. Easy to use.We brought this to Cuba with us as we love our water and hate to be without. Unfortunately the main lobby was a bit of a jaunt. The hotel often didnât replace the water in our room (which we read reviews prior to know)We placed it in our room on a shower bar. The water tasted better than what the resort provided. We just used the regular tap water from the sink.Honestly worth every cent. We are so thankful to have brought this with us.

Just received this water filter in about five days. It looks sturdy and good quality on opening the box, but haven’t used it yet. I plan to keep it handy for emergency use only but it looks like it would be excellent for camping, hiking or survival use. I’ll keep mine next to my big jugs of emergency water supply just in case.I can also quickly pack it into my car if I ever have to evacuate my home and can use it to keep hydrated from most water sources like lakes, rivers, streams, ponds etc. It can be used alone as a straw, or as gravity fed from the water bag provided, whatever the circumstances demand. All in all a good purchase in my opinion.
