How do Water Softener Cartridges work?
Hard Water contains dissolved minerals in the form of Calcium (Ca), Magnesium (Mg), and Iron (Fe). Removal of these minerals is accomplished by softening the water through an ion exchange process using water softening filter cartridge. As the water flows through the resin in the filter cartridge, the dissolved minerals become attached to the resin, creating soft water. Removing hardness from water can prevent hard water scaling and staining, and prolongs the life of RO membranes if used for pretreatment to an RO System.

Was skeptical but pleasantly surprised when it did indeed remove scale from our water in Tucson. Way easier to deal with than a water softener, no salt to buy, and no flushing the system and putting water down the drain.

Even though this cartridge didn’t serve my purposes I’ll still rate it 5 stars. Simply because it seems to perform the way as advertised. I thought I’d roll the dice to see if it would perform at an extended level[shower/laundry] Unfortunately [for me] it is limited, but seems to perform well to single point of use applications! Great cartridge for proper specified use!

I installed a three stage 4âx20â filtration system with a pre-stage sediment filter about 4 months ago. I replaced the originally supplied 4âx20â 1st stage sediment filter with this water softening filter and it seems to be working just fine. I am hoping it will last 6 months, weâre only about 1 month in and results are still good. I contemplated on installing a water softener before the 3 stage filtration system and this just might solve that problem. Not only do we have VERY clean and great tasting water, but the hardness is reduced slightly with this filter.

Works well for what it is. Screw the bottom off to refill. Ran it in a 3 person house for a full year and the media was almost gone. Recommend refilling it every 6 months or so.

Lots of iron in our well water. Couldn’t deal with 40 lb. bags of salt anymore so tried this filter and see and taste no difference than our previous $15 filter offered. Save your money.
