New Education Policy 2020 Highlights: Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved the National Education Policy 2020, paving way for transformational reforms in class and higher education sector within the country.
New Education Policy was launched on Wednesday, July 29. Earlier, in the afternoon the Union cabinet approved the policy that aims to overhaul the country’s education system. Union Ministers for Information and Broadcasting (I&B)Parkas Javadekar and Human Resource Development (HRD) and Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, announced the NEP- 2020. Earlier on May Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had reviewed the NEP- 2020, that draft was prepared by a panel of experts led by former Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) chief K Kasturirangan. The NEP 2020 aims at making “India a worldwide knowledge superpower”.The new school term will begin in September-October – the delay is thanks to the unprecedented coronavirus disease (Covid-19) outbreak – and therefore the government aims to introduce the policy before the new session kicks in below –

NEP 2020: School complexes to be used for course courses after school hours
Use of schools/ school complexes beyond school hours and library spaces for course courses which can be ICT-equipped when possible and for other community engagement and enrichment activities

 

NEP 2020: More specializes in vocational studies in school- level
Every child learns at least one vocation and is exposed to several more.
A sampling of important vocational crafts, like carpentry, electric work, metalwork, gardening, pottery making, etc., as decided by States and native communities during Grades 6-8.
By 2025, a minimum of 50% of learners through the varsity and higher education system shall have exposure to vocational training
A 10-day bagless period sometime during Grades 6-8 to intern with local vocational experts like carpenters, gardeners, potters, artists, etc.
Similar internship opportunities to find out vocational subjects to students throughout Grades 6-12, including holiday periods.
Vocational courses through online mode also will be made available.

Preschool section in Kendriya Vidyalayas



 
Pre-school sections covering a minimum of one year of infancy care and education are going to be added to Kendriya Vidyalayas and other primary schools around the nation, particularly in disadvantaged areas.

A new and comprehensive National Curriculum Framework for Teacher Education, NCFTE 2021, is going to be formulated by the NCTE in consultation with NCERT. By 2030, the minimum degree qualification for teaching is going to be a 4-year integrated B.Ed. degree. Stringent action is going to be taken against substandard stand-alone Teacher Education Institutions (TEIs).

NEP 2020: HECI- Common regulatory body for the entire education


Higher Education Commission of India(HECI) is going to be found out as one overarching umbrella body for an entire education, excluding medical and legal education. HECI to possess four independent verticals – National education Regulatory Council (NHERC) for regulation, General Education Council (GEC ) for normal setting, education Grants Council (HEGC) for funding, and National Accreditation Council( NAC) for accreditation.

NEP 2020: Bagless days encouraged


Bagless days will be encouraged throughout the year for various types of enrichment activities involving arts, quizzes, sports, and vocational crafts.

 

NEP 2020: Three language learned by children are going to be the selection of state, regions, and students

The three-language learned by children are going to be the alternatives of States, regions, and of the scholarsgoodbye as a minimum of two of the three languages are native to India.
